Key Lime Cupcakes

YUMMY! I made these delicious key lime cupcakes for our 4th of July trip out on my son's sailboat. I made them at the last minute so I did not have time to put them in the fridge to cool.  They were very light and had cream cheese icing. I think the would be better serve cold though.
I used the recipe that is on http://laurassweetspot.com/2012/06/18/key-lime-cupcakes/

I really don't like to make cupcakes but it seems that I have posted 2 cupcakes adventures on my blog! Go figure.  Maybe I will learn to like making them....

Sewing Advice

I saw this on another blog and thought it was funny! It is from a Singer Sewing Machine Manual from 1949. I think I will print it and frame it for my sewing room. Can't say I will follow the advice though! Clean Dress...no way. Sink full of dirty dishes... yep. Hair done, powder and lipstick....ah nope. I wonder if Granny did it this way. .....Probably not. :)

My Tie Dye Cupcakes

Here are pictures of the tie dyed cupcakes that I made my daughter-in-law for her birthday. She really liked them and called them "magical" cupcakes.  She loves anything with rainbows so I thought she would like these. They were really fun to make.  Here is the blog I got the recipe from  http://www.canyoustayfordinner.com/2011/02/10/rainbow-tie-dye-cupcakes/

Tame Your Bobbings Idea

I saw this blog and thought it was a neat idea! My bobbins are always unorganized and messy looking. I am going to try this! Very easy and cheap using plastic tubing.  I have seen using pony tail holders but this is better because you can see through the plastic tubing!

Best Ever Pulled Pork Sandwiches

I just ran across this recipe while spending WAY too much time on Pinterest!!  It looks easy and made in the crockpot so that gives me more time to do more fun stuff.  Anyway here is the link to the blog that the original recipe came from. http://www.sweetandsavoryfood.com/2010/01/best-ever-pulled-pork-sandwiches.html

Barbecue Pulled Pork Sandwiches

pork butt (I used 2.5 lb - but you can use whatever size needed for your family)
1 can Diet Pepsi
1/2 bottle Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce
Lawry's Seasoning Salt

Generally coat pork butt with Lawry's seasoning salt, don't be afraid to cover it all! Place in crock pot and pour in soda and barbecue sauce. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours. If you have a larger piece of meat, it will probably take longer. After 4 hours or so, take two forks and shred the meat into bite size chunks. Let it sit in the juice to soak up all that flavor. It can stay on warm in crock pot while serving, and can easily be reheated the next day. Serve on a kaiser roll and add more barbecue sauce if needed.

Cinnamon Biscuit Recipe YUM!

I stumbled upon this recipe when reading some blogs and it look so yummy! I plan to try it soon!
I found it at http://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com

Gooey Cinnamon Biscuits

Yield: 4 huge biscuits or 9 regular biscuits
Cook Time: 14-16 minutes

ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons dark brown sugar, divided
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups heavy cream, divided
1/2 cup cinnamon chips, divided
3/4 cup confectioner's sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

directions:

1. Heat the oven to 425°F. Lightly grease an 8 x 8-inch baking pan and set aside.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt, breaking up any large clumps in the brown sugar. Pour in 1 1/2 cups of the cream and mix just until combined. Dump the dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat into a long, thick rectangle. The dough will be firm, yet wet and sticky.
3. Slice the rectangle into 8 equally-sized squares. Lay four of the squares in the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and half of the cinnamon chips over each square. Place the remaining biscuit dough squares on top and lightly press the edges to seal. Top the biscuits with the remaining cinnamon chips.
4. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, or until the biscuits are slightly golden brown on the outside and just cooked through. Remove from the oven and use a knife to spread and smear the hot cinnamon chips on top of the biscuits.
5. Whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup cream, confectioner's sugar, and vanilla extract. Lightly drizzle the biscuits with this glaze. Serve immediately.

Gingerbread Aprons and Chef Hats

Here are the Gingerbread Christmas Aprons and Chef Hat I made my nieces. They were fast and fun to make. I put them in a basket with cookie utensils, cookie mix and cookie cutters. I also added a kids Christmas CD with songs for them to sing as they cooked. Needless to say it was a great success!
